This 35 km (22 mile) loop trail travels asphalt and gravel roads through easy terrain with short, moderate inclines that anyone can enjoy.
Day 1 Itinerary
This tour begins and ends at the town of Turrialba. After being picked up by your guide, you will drive to the ride starting point near Lake Angostura. There, you’ll be fit to a mountain bike and receive thorough safety instruction. Our ride begins on asphalt and then travels gravel roads through sugar cane plantations and rainforest. Small hills of medium intensity (0.5 km) offer beautiful views of the Pejibaye River canyon. We will descend through the village of Pejibaye, where we will stop for a rest and snacks, and to see how people live in this rural agricultural community. Our loop returns us to the place where we began.
* Optional addition: This trip can be turned into a full-day tour by adding 12 km (7.5 miles) of medium intensity cycling and having a traditional lunch in the home of a local family. Adds 2-3 hours to the tour.
